turning one is fun!

Since the party was before her actual birthday, we continued the celebration when we got b ack to SC. We had a party with our neighbors, and sofia got to try out her new swing. we ate homemade ice cream, which sofia loved and we had more cake on her actual birthday. Since we spent the night of her birthday at the mall, getting new tires on the car, we got our picture taken in the photo booth and we rode the carousel!



We also went for our one year check up. Sofia is in great shape and growing like a weed. She was just shy of 20 pounds, weighing in at 19 lbs, 14 oz. She is in the 30% for weight and 75% for height, having grown 2 1/2 inches. She is now 29 3/4 inches tall, and i think it is all in those legs!
She officially started walking on September 2. She just stood up and started doing laps around the house. Now she won't stay seated!

this is my little "goofy sister" following in family tradition of wearing underwear on her head. She did this herself as I folded laundry...and she was so proud of herself!


My munchkin is a clothes hog already...she loves to go into her room and pull out all her clothes and look at them one by one.

Celebrating the Big Day!

For Sofia's first birthday, we headed to Kentucky to celebrate with friends and family. We had a luau, and everyone seemed to enjoy the party. Sofia enjoyed her first piece of cake, as you can see by the blue mouth!
We also shared our big news with everyone, and sofia seemed just as happy about being a big sister as everyone else was.
Sofia is not so sure of this birthday hat!

She got lots of fun toys and gifts from everyone that was there.

while we were there, we went to a friend's wedding too. Isaac and Sofia kept everyone busy walking around. I think we all had sore backs from being hunched over all night!

We had a visit from our friends Melanie, Ford and Georgia. Sofia had a great time running around and playing with Georgia.
With only six weeks difference between them, you can tell they are going to get into a lot of trouble together over the years!

Traveling Around

For the last month of Sofia's first year, we decided to celebrate every weekend. We got to spend the weekend in the Great Smoky Mountains with Katie, Dee and Addy. Here we all are, strolling around Gatlinburg together!


After spending a week with Momcat and Poppa in July, (a few of those days all by herself with them), we went the beach one weekend for some fun in the sun. Sofia quickly figured out that the way to stay cool was to eat ice straight out of the cooler!
